A person who contaminated candy with sleeping medication and distributed them to children at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males aged between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and one adult experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on recently.

Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.

She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.

Ruben played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to consume candy "rapidly".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the following morning.

She explained Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor added: "This year his stepchild had worries about the activities, with valid cause.

"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC explained materials including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his concerns.

She explained Ruben continued to conduct the "treat game" with six children that night - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.

"The police had not gone out by that time," she stated further.

The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The legal representative stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement a second time.

She said the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five children.
